As of March 9, 2000 this page has been totally redone. If you have visited here before, please come in again. You will find new pictures, plus some other goodies. This site by no means a complete compilation of all aircraft at the museum. You can find that at the museums WEB site. This site focuses mainly on American aircraft, W.W.II. through present day. I have also added navigation tools in each window to help you get around.
If you are just curious about the museum or intend to visit it someday, this site may give you a feel for what is there. Directions to the museum can be found on the museum's WEB site, but in case you navigate by GPS, the exact coordinates of their parking lot are 39°46'50.8" North X 84°06'46.1" West.
This site is a compilation of pictures from two visits that I have made to the museum in the last year. During my last visit, which was in December of 1999, I met a couple of gentlemen there. One person was David Allison, who is the Webmaster for www.habu.org. The second person was John Stone, who is the Webmaster for www.blackbirds.net.
David's site, www.habu.org, is dedicated to all Lockheed Blackbirds (A-11, A-12 & SR-71). David has done an excellent job of researching every Blackbird ever built and has this information very neatly categorized by serial number on his site. The whereabouts (or fate) of each Blackbird can be researched here. His goal is to have a picture of himself standing in front of each one that is on display. He still has a few to go, but I think it is a neat goal. Good luck David! I'm proud to have been present at two of your shots.
John's site, www.blackbirds.net, too is dedicated to the Blackbird. This site is also dedicated to the U-2, which was an earlier spy plane built by Lockheed; a predecessor to the Blackbird. John's site has a lot of good "current event" type of information about both aircraft.
John has some connections at the museum. He was able to get a tour of the back room of the museum. This is the area where all of the aircraft are prepped for display. There is a lot of stuff there! The pictures that I have of the back room do not do it justice, but you can at least get an idea of what it is like back there.
A quick note before you actually get into my site. I have spent many hours staring at the screen until I'm cross-eyed working on this site. When you stare at something too long, obvious errors tend to hide themselves. Although I have done what feels like a thorough job of debugging things, I'm just sure that a problem or two has slipped past my screening. If you notice anything wrong, such as a dead or incorrect link, or a mis-spelling, would you do me a favor and please tell me about it. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
